pretty little 20s things…

Lately I’ve been slightly obsessed by the idea of sewing some vintage style lingerie. I blame Rachel and all her lovely tutorials on the Colette Patterns blog recently. I, like a lot of women, am not immune to the idea of vintage-style underthings that are a bit more pretty than the everyday things I already own. Aside from my brief stab at sewing a 40s bra last year (something that I’m still working on–hope to revisit the project this year!), lingerie sewing is something completely new to me. I found a neat little book on Ebay late last year on making your own lingerie published in the 70s, and it’s really tempting me right now with new projects… lol. One of my favorite eras for lingerie is the 20s and 30s; the mix of gorgeous fabrics (batiste and silk charmeuse come to mind!) and lace never ceases to grab my attention! I thought I’d share a few scans of mid-20s lingerie from one of my vintage sewing books… So many of these details are calling my name right now and making me eye my vintage lace stash! Enjoy!
