Pendleton Meets Opening Ceremony Boxy Military Jacket

Fall 2010 is the third season in which Pendleton has collaborated with Opening Ceremony on a limited collection and from what we’ve seen, it’s still going strong. “We mixed silhouettes both new and old with a wide range of brilliant colar palettes — from red-rimmed turquoise, to gilded navy, to yellow-lit lavender.” This jacket’s a standout from the rest but you wouldn’t think that when seeing it worn from a distance. The interior’s lined with fine Pendleton print while the shell is well-constructed and delivered in a refined package. It looks great

Pantone Visa

Finally, better designs to choose from for your credit card, other than an American flag, puppies, kittens or a damn sports team. Visa has come up with a brilliant marketing plan targeting all the shopaholic graphic designers out there, apparently, giving them more reason to charge it. The PANTONE Visa Platinum Rewards Card comes in five exciting hues, selected from the PANTONE Fashion Color Report for Spring 2011: Beeswax, Firecracker, Lavender, Regatta and Blue Curacao, colors found in designers Christian Siriano, Tommy Hillfiger, Lela Rose and Carmen Marc Valvo’s Spring lines.

There are real benefits as well. No a

Re-Papier

>> The world is officially small when via an editor from Indonesia who I met in New York, I somehow receive some nuggets of the Indonesian fashion industry and in particular, make another connection to Nina Karina Nikicio who is one of the more prominent ones that has been carving out several strands to her ever-burgeoning brand.  There’s a femme and homme line, a nn:02 basics-based line and then there’s her series of projects where she ‘re’ juvenates, ‘re’ vives or ‘re’configures a clothing concept.  For her fourth ‘re’ project, she looked at that old chestnut; the paper dress.  Explored, flashed up in the 60s and then condemened to the sin bin since, save for the loose relations of paper pulp-based fabrics in organic clothing endeavours, the paper dress has never really had its proper outing.  Perhaps it won’t ever be a conceivable mainstream mode of attire. 1940s trousers + pattern review

When the new Wearing History pattern popped up on my feed reader, I knew I had to get it!* All of Lauren’s patterns are top-notch, but this one was particularly appealing because she had updated the fit of the late 30s trousers a bit and it was also one of her shiny new graded patterns. Anyone who has ever sewn with an older pants pattern knows that the rise (or crotch depth) can be tricky at best and disaster at worst. 1930s and 40s style in particular seem to be plagued with extremely long crotch seams–ridiculously so! The kind that look utterly ridiculous to wear every day. Whi

Banana Republic Flash Sale Today!

CORRECTION: I experienced a brain lapse and incorrectly stated I canceled my hair apppointment to go shopping. That is so not the case.  Thanks, Whitney!

Saturday Gap offered 50 percent off all denim from 12-3 p.m. I was so torn: honor my much-needed hair salon appointment or feed my denim addiction. Regretably, I chose the latter. (It was a deal too good to be true!)

Now today, Banana Republic has rolled out its own flash sale. From 9 a.m.-3 p.m. only, take 30 percent off regular-priced merchandise at Bananarepublic.com. Then from 3:01-11:59, the deal drops to 25 percent off.

The sale applies to men’s and women’s merchandise. Enter
